Spray Foam Insulation verses other Sustainable Options

Spray foam insulation provides more energy savings and works better in hard to reach places than traditional fiberglass batt insulation. It works particularly well for cathedral ceilings and hard to reach places but be careful and review the products as some are more earth friendly than others and all are not created equal and can be hazardous to your health.

The problem with spray foam insulation is that many are toxic and unless you get the best most sustainable green guard approved it can literally destroy your home and make it uninhabitable as many people have allergies to the material once its dried.

Even though Spray Foam does solve a lot of problems there are critics who think that its not as environmentally friendly as it should be. Many designers consider other products like Earthwool or recycled denim cotton insulation which are all 100% natural and safe enough for your children to sleep on. Here are some other options that sustainable designers find more acceptable.
